- The Monoyer test has the advantage of placing the subject in familiar vision conditions meeting real needs

- The Monoyer scale allows an assessment of visual acuity called morphoscopic which involves mechanisms of global form recognition of optotypes: letters of decreasing size

- This scale is used to determine ametropia and to quantify visual acuity with relative accuracy  

- The Monoyer test is designed for use within 5 m of the subject
